Fisher Price releases iPhone apps for two-years old


How early is too early to play with an iPhone app? :) Fisher Price has released three new iPhone apps for kids aged between 2 and 5 years old.
There is See’n Say, featuring a virtual arrow that kids can spin to identify animals; then Little People Farm with mini-games and songs; and finally Chatter Telephone, an iPhone version of the Fisher Price Plastic phone.
As for parents, they find on Facebook the application “Moments to Share” to record kids’ milestones in a special “dynamic” timeline with photos, videos, dates and stories that they can share with their friends.

V-Tech launches MobiGo and Flip e-reader


From the toy Fair, again: VTech has launched the MobiGo, a handheld gaming system for kids 3-7 to fish, color, draw, play instruments and much more. And that’s not all: there’s also the Flip, the first “animted e-reader” that comes with a 4.3-inch color touchscreen, a built-in dictionary and a QWERTY keyboard. A kid-friendly competitor for Kindle?

Fisher-Price iXLand to become the iPad for kids?

Another exciting piece of news from the International Toy Fair. It seems like kids are getting their own iPad! Touch-screen technology and educational toys meet on the Fisher-Price iXLand (available for $80), that comes with six preloaded programs allowing kids to read interactive story books, practice handwriting, art and music. Additional programs will be downloaded via the built-in SD slot.

Available from October 2010… just in time for next Christmas.

The new Barbie® is a computer engineer


Barbie’s got a brand new career and that is…computer engineer! Her new job is the result of an online voting campaign launched by Barbie®for the first time. The new toy, presented at the International Toy Fair in New York, will make its debut in Winter 2010. This time around the most popular doll in the world will hopefully inspire girls worldwide to get interested in computer sciences. To make her look more authentic and realistic, Barbie® designers teamed up with the Society of Women Engineers and the National Academy of Engineering. As you can see from the picture, she’s obviously equipped with the latest high tech gadgets :)
