Remember what we told you about the Apps for Healthy Kids, the competition for designing apps, games and other tools that help children make healthier lifestyle choices announced by Michelle Obama?

Windows Live Messenger now available for iPhone

Just another reason why it could be difficult to keep your kids off your iPhone :)
Microsoft debuts its Windows Live Messenger, available as a free download in the iTunes App Store since yesterday. There are also a number of additional features (e.g. connections to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Hotmail accounts). Read more at Technologizer

PhoneBook Ride! Ride! by Kodansha/Mobile Art Lab

Kodansha and Mobile Art Lab’s PhoneBook Ride! Ride (aka PhoneBook Popo and Momo Ride! Ride, 2980 Yen/$32) aka when an “old-fashioned” cardboard children’s book meets iPhone and iPod touch apps. That’s how it works: once you purchase the book you can download the free PhoneBook – Ride! Ride! app from the App Store and then insert your iPhone or iPod into the middle of the printed Phonebook. Then you watch it as it plays interactive sequences that match the printed artwork. For now Japanese only!

Be rude with Doodle Burp!


Wanna see your kids giggle? There’ s an app for that. It’s a very simple game from MIke Tsao of Attachment computing: Doodle Burp. Just draw a shape on the screen and listen it play burping sound while jiggling the drawing. Doodle Burp is available for $.99 on iTunes, or you can get the ad-supported Doodle Burp Free.
Talk about hours of endless fun :)

Milk Monitor allows you to record all your breast-feeding data


Want to keep all the data of you breast- feeding baby all in one place safely and simply? Milk Monitor ($2.99/£1.79 here the iTunes link) is the App for you. Just tap the picture of your baby, pop him/her on the boob and tap the big L or R buttons to start a timer which will record the amount of time spent suckling. Then tap again to stop the clock when she/he’s finished..You can also keep track of the side tof the last feeding and how long it’s been since the last feed. And for those who are bottle feeding, you can also record the amount of milk the baby takes from the bottle.
And there’s more: the Log app allows you to record a number of useful information: naps, medications, diaper usage…poo and wee included! :)
Also, you can send a tweet while feeding, as a warning message for you annoying friends…

Fisher Price releases iPhone apps for two-years old


How early is too early to play with an iPhone app? :) Fisher Price has released three new iPhone apps for kids aged between 2 and 5 years old.
There is See’n Say, featuring a virtual arrow that kids can spin to identify animals; then Little People Farm with mini-games and songs; and finally Chatter Telephone, an iPhone version of the Fisher Price Plastic phone.
As for parents, they find on Facebook the application “Moments to Share” to record kids’ milestones in a special “dynamic” timeline with photos, videos, dates and stories that they can share with their friends.

Design an app for building healthier kids and win $ 10,000

A competition has been announced by Michelle Obama for designing apps, games and other tools that help children make healthier lifestyle choices. All the apps participating in the contest have to use information taken from the USDA Nutrition Dataset and have to be available for free for a year after the competition is closed.
The competition is called Apps for Healthy Kids and is part of Let’s Move campaign.
All the apps and games will have to be focused on encouraging kids & families to adopt healtier lifestyles and eating habits (controlling portions, being more active, etc.). Winners will earn a check for $ 10,000 and developers will retaing full rights to their entry.
The competition runs from March 10, 2010 through June 30, 2010 (close at 5pm EST).
